Non Profit Education Preparation
Preparing for work in the non profit industry requires specific attention to be paid to certain applicable disciplines such as fundraising and financial management. Higher education institutions have recognized the need for this specialized training and in response have developed a variety of non profit education based programs.
There are currently more than 260 colleges and universities that offer non profit education courses such as Fundraising, Managing Your Nonprofit Organization, Governance, and other courses aimed specifically at the nonprofit manager, including Strategic Planning, Human Resource Management and Financial Management. Some institutions only offer one or two non profit education graduate courses, usually financial management and generic nonprofit management, but others offer a graduate degree with a concentration in the management of nonprofit organizations.
Non Profit Education: Preparing for the Future
Individuals who enter the non profit sector from private industry are often encouraged to attend continuing education courses to learn about non profit specific issues that may not relate to their previous private-sector work. These courses are available through local colleges and universities, business groups, non profit help groups, and other organizations. Regardless of the provider, it is vital for non profit employees to have access to the latest knowledge and trends in order to excel in their duties, thereby contributing to the success of the organization.
